SADFAS arranges several day visits and other social events during the course of each year. Members have priority in booking and this normally opens three months before the day of the event. Payment can only be made by cheque payable to SADFAS.

Wednesday, 5 May 2010: A guided tour by Tim Bridges, an expert on church architecture, of six churches in the Cotswold area.

The ticket price of £30 includes coach, services of the guide, morning coffee, tea and biscuits at Tredington Church, buffet lunch at the George Hotel, Brailes and afternoon tea at Burton Dassett Church.
Departing Stratford Race Course 9.30 am. Returning approximately 5.30 pm.
The churches to be visited are:
- Tredington – a fine large Saxon and medieval church with a landmark spire and a wealth of furnishings and brasses.
- Barcheston – a medieval church with fine memorial and curious leaning tower, plus interesting associations with the Sheldon family and their tapestries.

Brailes – St George's, 'the Cathedral of the Feldon', a splendid medieval church with magnificent east window.

Brailes – the hidden 18th century Catholic chapel.

Warmington – a pretty medieval church with 14th century priest's room.

Burton Dassett – an atmospheric church on the edge of the hills with medieval wall paintings and carvings.

- Thursday 8 July 2010: Bolsover Castle and Hardwick Hall in Derbyshire
Our summer outing will be to Bolsover Castle and Hardwick Hall in Derbyshire. The Cavendish family created Bolsover Castle for its entertainment and pleasure and the stunning views and wall paintings are not to be missed. Hardwick Hall, home of the remarkable Bess of Hardwick, arguably the second-most powerful and wealthy woman in Elizabethan England, boasts beautiful architecture, furniture, textiles and historic parklands.
The ticket price of £35 (£30 National Trust/English Heritage) includes coach, coffee/tea at Bolsover Castle and entrance to both properties.
Departing Stratford Race Course 8.30 am and returning approximately 6.30 – 7.00

Tuesday 5 October 2010: The Ashmolean Museum, Oxford
(Extra trip due to demand – not in the printed programme)
An autumn visit to the recently opened extension to the Ashmolean Museum has been arranged. The new galleries are easily reached by lifts and display a wide range of artefacts in an easily accessible way. The Museum has a world–class collection and the new galleries are a joy to visit. There is a large cafeteria on the lower floor and a rooftop restaurant with terrace. You may wish to book ahead for lunch, directly with the Ashmolean, as the new rooftop restaurant is very popular. However, there are many other cafes and restaurants within easy walking distance of the museum.
Departing Stratford Race Course 9.30 am. The coach will pick us up from the Museum at 4.30 pm.

- Wednesday 1 December 2010: A Russian Christmas at Chatsworth
Christmas at Chatsworth
Our Winter 2010 visit will be to Chatsworth House in Derbyshire. This will be an excellent opportunity to buy Christmas presents and decorations in the many gift shops situated in the house and stables where you will also find the Carriage House Restaurant, Cavendish Rooms, the Interiors Shop, Gardening Shop and Pantry selling fabulous food and drink from the Estate Farm Shop.
As well as this shopping experience, the Christmas decorations in Chatsworth House are always a sensation and we have arranged a 3pm time slot for entry to the Lower Floor of the house, which will be opulently dressed for Christmas with a Russian theme.
The ticket price of £27 includes coach, coffee/tea and biscuits and entrance to the house and gardens.
Departing Stratford Race Course 8.30 am. Returning approximately 6.30 pm. Comfort stops have been arranged.
Tickets will be on sale at the September, October and November lectures.
