Days of Special Interest are held twice a year and give members the chance to meet and explore subjects in greater depth than is usual. The days comprise a guest lecturer who will give three lectures on a chosen topic. There is opportunity for discussion and it is sometimes possible to examine artefacts at close range.
Meetings are usually held in the Shakespeare Centre, Henley Street,
Stratford-upon-Avon and include coffee on arrival and lunch.
Booking usually starts two months before the event and only cheques made payable to SADFAS can be accepted.
Mughals and Rajputs: Courts and Palaces of India

The two morning sessions cover the art and architecture of four imperial cities in north-west India (Delhi, Agra, Fatehpur Sikri and Lahore). This is followed by a brief overview of earlier Indo-Islamic dynasties and then the focus will be on the magnificent royal courts of ‘The Great Mughals’. The afternoon session covers the impressive fort-palaces of the Rajput maharajas and the life and ceremony at the glittering Rajput courts.
Sue Rollin is a lecturer, writer, interpreter and tour guide.

Samplers: Four Hundred Years of History
Jacqueline Hyman
Covering the history of samplers from the sixteen hundreds to the present day, their styles, designs, fabrics and threads. All the illustrations are unique and have been conserved by the lecturer.
Members can bring along their own samplers for advice.
Jacqueline Hyman established a freelance Conservation Studio in 1982 and is an accredited member of The Institute of Conservation and a member of the Textile Society
