Church Recording

churchrecording@sadfas.org.uk

Stratford-upon-Avon has an enthusiastic group of church recorders carrying out this fascinating work. It involves making records listing and describing everything inside a church as it stands today. This is carried out under the headings of: memorials, metalwork, stonework, windows etc. Photographs of some items and features of the inside of the church are also included to help with the description.

Church Recording - Weston on Avon

The group usually meets once a month to carry out this interesting work. At present work is in progress at a small church in the hamlet of Weston-on-Avon. Previously the team recorded Holy Trinity at Stratford-upon-Avon, St Helen’s at Clifford Chambers and All Saints at Luddington.

Completed records are presented to the local church, diocesan or county record office, Victoria and Albert Museum, and further copies are held by national institutions and form part of a heritage archive.

Study/training days are also held locally on the various subjects when we have the opportunity to meet up with members from other groups working in the West Midlands Area.

The Church Recorders are hoping to start a new project soon.
